Project Manager: Glyn Davies and Kathryn Atchison
Project Description: Self-Supporting programs (SSPs) would expand university services to the community by offering courses for a number of audiences who are not currently fully served, including professionals looking for additional career education, international students and retirees and local community members who do not fall into a “traditional” student definition. SSPs could benefit the departments by increasing revenue, overall class size, and student diversity. UCLA can enhance its reputation by offering these alternative programs while simultaneously maintaining the same rigorous standards to which all UCLA educational programs are held. The Self-Supporting Programs Task Force has provided a report recommending creation of guidelines to accomplish these goals and simplify the process to create SSPs.
